After Chidori was a Suffolk County based melodic metalcore/deathcore band that brought a fresh new change to Long Island’s music scene. This is something that many people may argue a metal/hardcore band could not bring to the table, but I must respectfully disagree. Melodies and breakdowns were used nicely without being overused or becoming bland. There are also certainly progressive elements mixed in with the composition along with pounding riffs that definitely sets it apart from any of the other Long Island “Hardcore/Metalcore” bands.
Upon seeing this band, originally known as An Endless Sunrise, at one of my very first local shows, I was quickly impressed. The stage presence was very solid, and upon watching the members you could see they all were very happy with what they were doing at the time. The members had electric energy and watching them would ensure you’re head bobbing, tapping your foot or just having a good time in general! They were the very first local band to have an impact on me; and I vividly remember going up to the lead vocalist Tanya and wanting to compliment her looks and talent, but only complimenting the latter. I would later attend a second show and befriend Tanya who is an extremely nice person currently looking for a new band to join. In conclusion, I believe this band had very large potential and could of certainly of went places if they didn’t break up, but alas it is a rare occurrence for a local band to stay together through thick and thin. RIP
